Phil Regan was a singer, actor, and radio star, and was often referred as "the singing cop" and "the Irish Tenor". He was a New York City police officer prior to becoming a radio and motion picture star. A radio producer discovered him at a party in 1932 where he was playing the piano and singing. He was featured on many radio programs throughout the 1930s. As an actor, he began working for Warner Brothers and was often used as a substitute for Dick Powell.
